I finally found a wordmeter to track my progress on the novel! See sidebar. You can get one of your own at Zokutou. There are also a number of podcasts on writing that I've recently discovered...although I'm not sure how good they are. One sounded like a straight-up advertisement for the author's book. Anyway, here are the writing blogs and pods I found today.

Here's a tale of rejection letters with a happy ending. Doh...I gave it away, didn't I? This is a nice site if you want to see what some of the more descriptive rejection letters look like. Of course, lots of editors/editorial staff will just send you a form letter rejecting your manuscript.

While most people do not literally eat their fellow humans, the "esteemed" (and not steamed) US president has obtained both money and power through the deaths of others, soldiers and civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. The wealth of his nation has historically come at the expense of others' life and liberty. So when he sits down to dinner, the food he eats comes out of a bloody present and a bloody past. "You've written a hit musical! How will you avoid having fame go to your head?" I'll walk upside down so that my blood will fill in any empty spaces and prevent fame from seeping in. Or I would just refuse to go to Fame in the first place.
